Meet the Marketers

Tyler Harden has a mind that never stops looking for opportunity. As a teenager working on construction sites, he learned from his grandfather that with a little hard work there was value to be found in discarded building materials. With that life lesson, Tyler’s entrepreneurial spirit was born. He has used that vision and drive to build more than one business and uses that eye for opportunity to maximize ways to efficiently and effectively market small businesses, nonprofits and churches.

Tyler holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Liberty University where he once competed as a member of their NCAA Division 1 track and field program. He started work immediately out of college at The Roanoke Times where he honed his focus on data, audience behavior, and revenue generation which continued over a nearly 12-year tenure.

In 2011, Tyler’s focus on marketing data and analytics that produces results won him national recognition in global research firm RAM’s (Research and Analysis of Media) case study of the year competition.

In 2012 Tyler launched a turnkey direct mail solution. Under his management, sales quickly took off and before long was working with some of the area’s most recognized businesses.

For most of his career at The Roanoke Times, Tyler worked with fellow marketer, Tammy Burdick, collaborating on projects.  In March of 2018 the two partnered to form Firm Foundations Marketing, Inc.

Tyler holds Google Analytics Individual Qualification and Mobile Sites certifications.

Tammy Burdick loves helping others achieve their goals and developing a plan to get there, with resourceful pivots as needed along the way. A big picture, strategic thinker, she takes a holistic approach to marketing to better understand how the pieces fit together.

After earning her bachelor’s from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Mass Communications and a focus in Public Relations, she worked for a regional print and digital publisher for 14 years.  During that time, she worked with hundreds of SMBs to develop their marketing strategy and better understand their client base and market potential.

Taking databases of research, she turned hard numbers into engaging information, and educated businesses, non-profits and fellow newspaper employees across all departments to better understand their audience base and market potential – and ultimately, how to take those findings and turn it into strategy.

As audience shifted to digital over the years, she shifted marketing efforts to digital as well, diving deep into Google Analytics, working closely with in-house digital teams and vendors to drive promotional efforts, and directing successful digital campaigns on Facebook and Google to achieve marketing goals.

 

In 2013, she led a cross-departmental team to win Second Street’s 2013 Best Niche Ballot award for the publisher’s Best of Holiday Shopping program.

While there, she also worked alongside fellow marketer Tyler Harden. Together, they formed Firm Foundations Marketing in 2018, with a vision to guide SMBs and churches through marketing strategy, digital and direct marketing.
